Abstract

Cooperative learning has been a popular educational approach since Dewey first proposed it decades ago. There are various definitions and activity types which have been researched and various ideas about what characterizes cooperative learning and how these characteristics impact student learning. In the context of a Singaporean tertiary system, the authors studied the perceptions of the students in a business writing class to a variety of CL group activity types prior to their writing assignments.
